I agree with you that other costumed characters ("superheroes" just does not seem to fit) seemed to have nebulous powers if any aside from some extra strength in one instance. It was too unclear.

I disagree with you about the ending. Since I went into this film with no knowledge at all about the universe and characters, I found that the movie tried to build up viewer support for Rorschach. The flashbacks and prison scenes for example. So I thought the ending quite unenjoyable. Especially at the hands of the most boring and arguably unliked character.
