Wine and VNC

A weird problem I had was that colours were messed up in all programs running under wine, after a lot of fiddling I have discovered this can be fixed by switching off the double buffering that is enabled by default. Set “DesktopDoubleBuffered” to “N” in the .wine/config (or in the latest wine versions, run winecfg and unselect the checkbox for it). I’m pretty sure this is something to do with the fact that I’m using VNC as my xserver rather than a real display.
